Fall Clothing and Warmth
Xinjiang experiences large day-night temperature swings in autumn. Daytime temperatures range from 15 to 25°C, while nights can drop to 0 to 10°C, with even lower temps in mountainous areas. Pack a windbreaker, fleece jacket, and lightweight down vest; dress in layers. Choose slip-resistant sneakers or hiking boots, and bring a hat and scarf. Strong winds on grasslands and lakeshores make a windproof jacket essential.
Skin Care, Sun Protection, and Electronic Devices
The sun in Xinjiang is strong. Bring sunscreen with SPF 50+, lip balm, and moisturizer, and wear sunglasses. The climate is dry; drink water daily and use body lotion. For cameras, carry spare batteries and memory cards as they drain faster in cold temperatures. For your phone, bring a power bank with a capacity of at least 20000mAh.
Documents and Other Items
Carry your ID card with you. A Border Pass is required for border areas like Baihaba and Tashkurgan. Security checks are frequent in Xinjiang, so allow extra time. Pack essentials: common medications, snacks, and some cash, as signal may be weak in remote areas. Bring a neck pillow and a thermos for long drives to enhance comfort.
Adjust list by season
From 6 to 8, pack short-sleeve shirts, sun-protective tops, and light jackets. From 9 to 10, add fleece layers and a thin down jacket; nighttime temperatures drop to approximately 0–10°C. From 11 through the following 3, bring heavy down jackets and thermal underwear, as temperatures may fall below -25°C. Winds are strong on the grasslands and near lakes; pack a windproof jacket and scarf.
Packing Tips
Xinjiang's attractions are spread out, with travel distances between cities ranging from 300 to 500 km. We recommend using a suitcase paired with a carry-on backpack for easy daily organization. Store electronic devices in a dedicated pouch and bring a power bank with a capacity of at least 20000mAh. Pack essential medications based on the number of travelers; quantities sufficient for 7 to 10 days should be adequate. Prices are subject to the confirmed quote at the time of booking.
